Blog 11 - Monday, October 23, 2017

At the end of Fahrenheit 451, Granger tells Montag about the passing of his grandfather and the mark he left on the world. Montag begins to wonder what kind of legacy he will leave after his own passing.
What kind of legacy do you want to leave after you've passed away?
What do you want to be remembered for?
Explain.

  1. I haven't really thought about it to be honest. If I live a long life then all I want is to have my generation being passed on. (That just means having a family) I don't care if I am remembered because I don't think that I will do anything supper important, like for example: finding a cure for cancer or communicating with extraterrestrial life or go where no man has gone before...(Star Trek) I just want to live a happy life. My definition for a "happy" life would be me having a job that I love and friends that I care about and have fun hobbies that I do in my spare time in my apartment or house that I own with my cool car.

  2. I have not thought about the legacy I want to leave behind.... I guess I would just want to be known as the woman who did whatever she pleased. I’m a big believer in the quote “ different is better “. Sort of the woman who didn’t care what others thought of her. Also as somebody who is of course happy and lovable. I would also like to be known as a person who had a very intense love of animals.

Honestly, I’m not sure if I will change the world in such a drastic way that I leave some big advancement in society that everybody remembers. Although if I did, it would probably be something to do with helping animals, getting rid of the stigma on mental health or maybe an advancement on technology.

    1. I like your blog it is a very interesting idea that you want to be thought of the women who did what ever she wanted. But think that it is good.

  3. I have not thought of what legacy i wanted to leave behind when i am gone. Honestly speaking i want it to like one of the greatest goalie to have ever played in the NHL or even just make to the NHL or a professional hockey league somewhere around the world but i highly doughy that that will happen because .16 percent of kids that play get drafted and .2 play. I would want to be thought of a man who was very kind and generous to others also to have bean very hard working at what ever he does.

  4. I of course want to leave a positive legacy. I have been fortunate enough to have been born and brought up in a great country and a lot of others have not been as lucky as me. I want to be remembered for changing some of the lives of those who are less fortunate than me in a good way. Whether it's through providing education, clean water or food. I also want to be remember for being someone who always helped others. It could be in my community or internationally.

  5. I have not thought of the legacy I want to to leave after I've passed away. I don't really see myself doing a huge thing to change the world. But I do want to be remembered as a good person. I want to be remembered as a kind soul. Someone who always put others needs before their own. Someone who is considerate, funny and compassionate. I want to have an effect on someone, whether it's 1, 10 or 100 people.

  6. I honestly have not really thought about what I want to be remembered as once I pass away. I dont reallt want to be remembered as anything except for being a good person. I dont really care what people will think about me when I pass away though, because I will not be alive.

  7. I have not really thought about what kind legacy I want to leave behind after I’ve passed. I do not really think I will do something big and major in my life, so I do not think that a lot of people will remember me. But I want to be remembered for being a friendly and kind person. Also I do not think that I will be remembered for a long time.

  8. I honestly haven't really thought about what mark I'd want to leave on the world,I just know that in the course of my life I want to grow as a person, and help the world and the people in the world. I don't care if people remember me, because most of what I do is for myself, and I'm always trying to achieve my personal goals, but I 'd want to be remembered as a kind person, that helped the world.

  9. I have not yet thought about this question since I am still young and no where near death, but all I want is to be remembered as a smart and hardworking person which I am. I want to be very successful in the future, so I will work my butt off to achieve that goal. I honestly don't care if people remember me or not since I will be gone so it won't really matter.

  10. When I pass away I surely would want to leave a positive legacy. I would want to be known as the person who was friendly, helped others and made them feel welcomed. I want to be known as the person who always pushed herself for what she wanted and always worked hard. Those examples are what I value since I believe that everyone should be like that. Everyone should be a mentor to the younger ones, so that they to can leave a positive legacy.

  11. I haven't really thought about this that much but it isn't that hard to want to be known as the greatest of all time. I don't really care about what this is as long as people look up to me as the god of something. Obviously being known as someone who is generous and caring is also good. After thinking about it a bit, I would want my legacy to be that I was the creator of the biggest pair of shoes. Although it is super random, how cool would it be for my grandkids to be able to say that they knew the creator of the biggest shoes ever.

  12. This is such a difficult question, because you can think about it all you want but you never really will get to know what you leave behind. Of course, when I’m gone it would be nice to be remembered in a positive light, but I honestly don't really care whether I’ve affected one person or hundreds. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what mark you leave on the world, though, because existence really is futile. Eventually, humanity's mark on the universe will be completely erased, and your memory will no longer carry on. I usually try not to think about things like this, because of the dark turn this just took, but to conclude I am just going to say that I’m unconcerned about what people will think of me once I’ve died; I think it's better to just let people think what they want instead of pretending to be perfect so that you'll be remembered in that way.

    2. You're right, that did take a dark turn. But do you really think really anybody we know will be remembered in that many years? If we end up fixing our issues with destroying our world with war and pollution we may have another five billion years ahead of us before something happens like say the sun explodes or collapses into a black hole, or the Rapture happens.

  13. When I die I want people to look up to me and leave a very positive legacy on the world. I would want to be known as someone who accomplished something, like an athlete or an inventor. I want to leave a mark on the earth like Granger's grandfather by doing something that may benefit the world or seems impossible. I'm saying all this stuff that most likely won't happen and I probably won't leave a huge legacy on the world, but if I don't accomplish anything I would at least want to be known as a nice guy and a generous person.

  14. Whatever people remember me for I hope that its positive and not negative. Honestly I wouldn't care because I would be dead but maybe it would help me rest in peace. I think that the legacy someone leaves on the world really affects how people in the future think of them, so if you want to be respected you will have to work for people to recognize you that way. I would also like to leave a physical positive effect on the world by being self conscious and eco friendly with my choices.

  15. It’s easy to say that I want to be remembered as an iconic athlete or scholar or musician or juggler or whatever, but quite honestly, fame is for a**holes. My whole life has been somewhat dedicated to impacting other people’s lives and my environment for the better in His name. I want to keep doing good in the world. If even one person wakes up in the morning with a smile on their face because of what I’ve done for them, then I’ll be happy with my legacy.

  16. I would want to be remembered as one of the most famous youtubers/ streamers. From the age of 9 I grew a passion for computer games and also youtube/streaming. From the age of 10 I wanted to become a youtuber/streamer. I just wanted to bring a smile to people's faces and to turn my ultimate passion into my dream job.

  17. for me i don't really care because i am going to be dead. the only thing that would be important for me is that i leave the world on a positive mark on the world and not something negative. if there would be on thing it would be to leave as the gratest race car driver of all time especially in drifting and rally. those are my two favorite Motorsports and even for me to somewhat known or acknowledge for that that would be my life goal. I don't care what people think of me as long as i am happy and for me cars are my ultimate happiness.

  18. I’ve never thought of what I want to leave behind. I didn’t really think anything about my own legacy before this blog came up. I want to be known, but not by many, I want people to think well of me, but not idolize me. I want to be like a figure in a small community of people. I would like to be someone that is widely unheard of, but to some people a good influence and a kind friend. I want to be known as that one guy who can turn your life around by telling you a bit about his. I want young people to know me and think: “He’s a nice guy,” or “He’s a good person”. I want to leave a mark that lasts in the hearts of people who notice me.
I don’t necessarily want to be noticed, but if and when I am I want the good to be noticeable and memorable.

  19. I've never thought of the words bill gate and my mom before until now. During her trip to america because she is a PHD student and from time to time there are events where she is given a free trip to parts of different countries for conventions. this time she got to go to the american society of human genetics and bill gates was a special guest. she got to see him do a discussion between one of the members of the society.

  20. i want to be remembered. when i pass on i want at least one person to remember me. i know over time you will be forgotten that comes naturally but i want to be remembered for as long as possible. i hope the thing they remember me for is something good that contributed to this planet. i want it to have helped humans further develop.

  21. I of course want to be remembered, but in a positive way. I want to be known as someone who accepted people even when others didn't. Personally, I want to be successful. A lot of people say that but I really do. I've already been making plans for what I want to do in the future. A lot of the times plans change because things happen but that is why I will try as hard as I can to stay on track as I am right now. Out of school I'm already doing things that has to do with my plan.

  22. I want to be remembered as a girl who played many sports, was committed to teams, was respectful, caring etc. I want to be remembered being a good student, smart and knows what she wants in life and what she doesn’t. I want to be remembered as successful in life in general.
