Many kids around the globe have been competing in the TIDE POD CHALLENGE.

This challenge includes taking a Tide pod laundry detergent and chewing it up before spewing the soap from their mouths.

This is obviously a very DANGEROUS challenge.

What do you think about this challenge?

Why are kids competing in this challenge?

Are kids really that dumb?

Explain.

  1. I've seen this everywhere, and it's so dumb, 13 people have died!, It's so dangerous, and its poisonous. Kids obviously do this on social media, for views and likes, but if you get killed by this ridiculous trend, that's not gonna matter anymore. I really don't understand why someone would eat laundry detergent. I think this first started because people think it looks like candy, but no one should actually eat it?!

    2. Your point about likes and views not mattering when the person is dead is very interesting! Great blog :-)

  2. This challenge is obviously stupid as it's literally killing people. I honestly don't understand why teens continue to eat them when there are warnings not to EVERYWHERE. I think this whole challenge is happening because kids are bored. We are given so much and our lives are so repetitive that our generation seems to be bored. I also think teens are doing it to gain popularity as right now if you do this challenge you receive attention. It might not be good attention but its still attention.

    1. I agree, they all just crave attention. What I find dumb is that they still continue to participate even though people are dying.

  3. Most Youtube challenges are dumb, but the Tide Pod challenge has to be one the dumbest ones ever created. I believe that kids participate in this stupidity in order to gain attention from others. They post what they do on social media to gain views because they want popularity. Little do they know, this "popularity" that they aim for isn't positive, but negative. It shows just how stupid they are in our society. Kids need to wake up and see that what they think is cool really isn't.

    2. You mentioned some really great points. Popularity is a big factor in the cycle of teenagers making decisions.

  4. I have no idea what could be going through these kids minds when they are about to put their lives in serious and obvious danger. I would never have the guts to do this challenge because of the lethal risks. Maybe this is just a phase that teens are going through to pass the time. I don't think that these kids are dumb, I think that they are doing this for a reason.

    2. Yep, I agree. I would definitely not do this challenge because I obviously do not want to die!

  5. I think kids are just doing this to get popular on social media. They think that if they follow this trend they will get more followers or something. I honestly wonder who decided to start this trend and be the first person to eat a tide pod. Some kids really can be this dumb to eat these. I thinks teenagers are smart enough to not swallow the tide pods but younger kids see them and try it for themselves and die.

  6. I have recently heard of this challenge, and think it is completely ridiculous. Many people are dying just because it appears to look like "candy". People are making soo many memes of these. I think people are running out of funny "memes" to spread around, so they pick something so stupid to make it go viral. This trend is setting a horrible example for younger children and toddlers that can easily inhale this deadly substance. This is obviously a trend, which means that people around the world are following what everyone else is doing since it is apparently cool and "funny". But you know whats not funny? Ending up in the hospital because of ingesting a pod of laundry detergent because of something you saw online. These pods may look small, but they sure do a lot of harm. I don't think these kids realize what they're doing to their bodies and how harmful it could be. Smarten up kids.

  7. Everyday, when I get home from school, the first thing I do is fix myself a delicious plate of tide pods. It is my absolute favourite food in the whole world and it honestly has been for as long as I can remember. I never told anyone about my snacking habits before now because I was ashamed, but now that there is a whole movement towards the degustation of tide pods, I feel inspired to share my story.

  8. I have recently seen a lot of popularity that has grown around this challenge. The only reason why teens are doing it is for attention. Teens often do not think things through, which is normal. I'm a teenager and I don't always makes the smartest decisions. We have to start taking these memes seriously when people start to die or injure themselves. This challenge is just another phase that we will go through. Soon enough, this challenge will die and a new one will be born. It is the circle of memes.

  9. I honestly do not understand why people are doing this. IT IS POISON! Some people have actually died from doing this stupid challenge. I guess people really are dumb enough so put chemicals into their bodies. I think they are doing this for attention. If they do something as stupid as this, maybe people will actually pay attention to them.

  10. The world is really just getting dumber and dumber by the day. Honestly, the teens these days don’t shift from their social media. Nobody in real life in their right mind would suggest consuming and then attempting to regurgitate laundry detergent. But with the internet people speak their minds no matter what stupid thoughts come up because after all, nobody can do anything to you through your screen. Ever wonder how laundry detergents whiten clothes? It’s because in them are chemicals, one being a high concentration of ethanol, which can kill you, as well as hydrogen peroxide, which is basically a more environmentally friendly alternative to BLEACH. Yeah, you never see anyone going around drinking bleach for a challenge, because most of us aren’t that stupid, although drinking bleach has become a meme of its own, but hasn’t yet ascended to the level of being an internet challenge. But honestly, if you are so stupid or prideful as to take up this challenge, then maybe you deserve the hole in your stomach.

  11. I think this chalange can be really stupid and dangerous, but also really entertaining sometimes. I know I sound stupid when I say that but all the memes about them are really funny sometimes. To be honest, I don't even know hhow this has become a thing. Eating a Tide Pode. This challenge makes me what to questoin everything. It makes me want to just, I don't know, like why? Why is the human race so stupid sometimes? I have no idea why kids are doing this stupid challenge, you're basically asking to die. I think it is just a trend, a really stupid one, were kids think they have to do it to be cool and feel accepted in their sort of social life. I don't think kids are really this dumb, I think it's more of and act for attention, kind of like a call out to the world, "hey I can eat Tide Pods, watch me eat soap and die!". It is just a cry out to people to get their attention. Kids call them "THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT" because local grocerie stores and walmarts and other stores have been actually locking them up with the things they use to lock up the technology things like the cameras and all that.

    1. They also lock up bows and arrows, crossbows, firearms and explosives. Laundry detergent shouldn't be in there with them.

    2. lets just say the human race dodged a bullet through natural selection (that's the best way I can make sense of the situation, natural selection doing its thing)

  12. I honestly don't understand what goes through people's minds when they decide to do things like this. Over the years, there have been many stupid challenges that include doing dangerous things, but I think that the tide pod challenge would be near the top of the list if anyone ever made one. There have been so many warnings against this; thirteen people have died, which really should be warning enough!

  13. I think that this is one of the dumbest challenges to exist because the chances of death are very high. I'm pretty sure that tide's website says that with accidental ingestion death could occur but people are still doing the challenge. This shows a bigger problem in our society, it shows that people can be influenced to do something as stupid as eating chemicals, so you can imagine what else dumb people would be willing to do to stand out.

  14. I think that this challenge is really dumb because you can be basically trying to died because there are a lot of dangerous chemical inside. I think that kids are competing in this challenge for attention because they want to see who can do it better and in my opinion I think that nobody show try it ever. I don't think that kids are that dumb i think that they do this challenge to try to be better than other.

  15. i believe that our society has been getting stupider by the second and this is because of social media. social media starts all kinds of new trends that get dumber and dumber all the time. i think that the tide pod challenge is on of the stupidest trends so far. I don't understand how you tell yourself,"oh i'm going to eat a tide pod today. i know it deadly but whatever." whoever did this challenge is utterly stupid!

  16. I think that this is a very stupid challenge and people that know the effects that could happen when you try completing this are stupid.I think kids these days are doing it to get attentions. Kids these days are not dum they make poor decisions.

  17. I think the tide pod challenge is dumb. People are just doing it because they want to be popular or they get influenced by their friends. All I have to say is, you won't be popular when you're dead. Tide pods are literally poisonous. It's like if people were to make a bleach challenge and they would see how many jugs of bleach they can drink. You're just asking for an early funeral if you ask me.

  18. I think that the tide pod challenge is extremely stupid, it not only could KILL you but honestly why would you even think of doing it. I think that kids do this challenge because they think that it will make them cool and get along with more people but actually what it does will make you not see your friends ever again. I dont think that it is because they are stupid but because other people are doing it so they think that it is cool.

  19. Wow just wow, the people doing the tide pod challenge killed the meme. The joke behind it was that you'd have to be retarded to eat a tide pod and that's basically the joke behind the meme and you'd have that mentality and laugh. And honestly yes I think they're stupid. Its stupid to think its hip and cool and its what the kids are doing because all who do it are dead. dead does not equal cool,(its more controversial talking about death more than anything) anyway don't eat tide pods its dangerous and you won't be cool, you'd be seen as an idiot quite frankly
