Be creative and write about something you feel important or something you would like to tell your audience. Write about something you are passionate about.
You must remember your audience. It is not simply me (Mr. Katz) reading this blog!
If you will be ranting about a certain individual, you need to leave their name out of this. You could give them a pseudonym (example: Mr. Ed) or simply leave their name as anonymous.
Make sure your language is appropriate. Do not go on swearing tangents.
One of the most important things in my life that I feel I never get to talk about anymore is Youth Upliftment International (Collège Amélioration Jeunesse). It’s right up there with God, family and my assortment of cacti :) . For those who aren’t aware, YUI is a charity that was founded by my old babysitter, Kate, and I’ve been closely involved in advocating and fundraising for it since I was about 10 years old. Kate founded a school for impoverished Haitian Children living in the Dominican Republic and it’s been running for about 7 years now. I’ve gone on two humanitarian trips to help with the school and I MISS ALL THE COLLÈGE KIDS WITH A FIERY PASSION they are the absolute bestest people I have ever met and although I was supposed to go to DR to help them out, I found my two trips to be the most enriching and humbling experiences of my life. I am so grateful to everybody involved with YUI and so grateful that I can help make even a small difference in the students’ lives. ReplyDeleteI think YUI is amazing! It's awesome what you are doing for those kids
DeleteIt's so great that you get all of that experience and you get to see the world in different ways! Great blog
Deletegreat!! i find it interesting how you raise money for YUI
DeleteOne thing that is extremely annoying to me is people who swear in every single sentence. I feel very passionate about this topic because I do not swear, but for some reason people feel the need to say the f word to emphasize every word they say. Now I know sometimes people swear when they are mad and I am not against swearing. But when I'm walking in the school hallway and I hear the f word 30 times in a minute, we have a problem. I just don't understand why people want to swear all the time. Maybe they think it's cool, but honestly you just sound obnoxious and unintelligent and need to expand your vocabulary. It's just annoying when I'm trying to have a conversation with someone and they start to drop f bombs left and right. Most of you will probably disagree with me and say that swearing is a way to express yourself, and yes it is sometimes helpful in appropriate context. This is just my opinion, as you are entitled to yours. If you are one of these people, I'm sorry if I somehow offended you.
ReplyDeleteI think that your opinion on swearing is totally reasonable and we should try not to swear 24/7. Great Blog!
DeleteSometimes when I have looked at a picture or played an instrument for so long I forget what I initially saw or the reason I am playing this instrument. I love music and one of my favourite instruments is the piano. I have been taking lessons for so long I have forgotten why I started taking them in the first place, now all I think of them as a nussiance. When times like these happen I need to get inspired, I need to find that reason, the why. So I go on this website called "noteflight.com" and I listen to piano pieces. There are some really nice compositions of classic music and also pop and
ReplyDeletelyrical songs turned instrumental, there are also songs that are from movies, like "How to Train your Dragon", "Star Wars", etc.
Music is so important to me and is a huge part of my life. It always has an affect with my emotions and inspires me whenever the date or time. I can always count on it to make me feel better.
I love how passionate you feel about music! I also feel that way and totally agree. Fantastic blog.
DeleteMusic is also important to me. Great blog
DeleteOne thing that is very important to me is the environment. I am always that one girl to collect recycling in my house when it has been placed in the garbage! I have often even fought with my parents over whether something is recyclable or not! I am a smart a** when it comes to this topic simply because wildlife is something that is being destroyed everyday because of us. Palm oil is no longer allowed in my house. Palm is a conservative that is found in Nutella ( yes I have not tasted Nutella for years ) chocolate, margarine and so much more! Getting the palm oil is DESTROYING THE RAIN FOREST AND THE HABITATS FOR THE ORANGUTANS! Many people don't even know what palm oil is, so I reccomend you all do some research. Thousands of rain forest animals are being treated horribly and are dying. Please, recycle and research on what you are eating, compost and reduce pollution! Anything can help, I feel very strongly for this topic and believe that we need to make a change!
ReplyDeleteI just learnt so much about the environment. Great blog.
DeleteFeel free to rant to me about the icecaps anytime! I'm totally here for it!
DeleteEveryone has much better ideas than me wow. ok so im gonna just talk about christmas because i'm very excited about christmas. It's my favourite holiday, and about the only time I actually like winter. I love the happiness and being able to see your family and the decorations and everything. I'm so excited for exams to be over with so christmas can start. Can we please ignore the next 3 weeks and just get exams over with? please? Im sorry this is the least meaningful and sentimental thing you've ever read.
ReplyDelete"Everyone" is literally four out of thirty people lol.
Deleteas i have nothing on my mind to rant about at the moment, i will be talking about christmas break!! i am honestly so excited because the past few months have been so stressful for me due to an incredibly high amount of homework, assignments, tests, etc, so i can not WAIT for the holidays come. the only thing that is stressing me out the most is mid term exams. i honestly just want to get those over with and once they are done with, i will finally be stress-free for the next 2 weeks. but besides that point, i am still looking forward to christmas and spending time with family.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! The only way to get to Christmas break is by finishing all your mid term exams.
DeleteSomewhere I really want to travel to is France and Spain. I have been to Europe before but I only visited Italy and Austria. I loved the experience in Europe and I found it was so cool to see how different it is from Canada. This is why I want to go back and visit different places. There are also a lot of cool places in France and Spain like the Eiffel Tower and the city of Madrid.
ReplyDeletego with the school
Deletethen steal your parents credit card and go.
DeleteI almost died??? Just kidding that was click bait. I went to Cancun not too long ago, around a week ago. It was pretty fun but there were a lot of lizards and I almost stepped on a sting ray. That was not click bait btw. I really enjoyed Cancun except it did rain a bit. I also really missed Haley!!! I visited a lot of historical structures and it was really fascinating. I also made friends who currently live in Beaconsfield so I am planning to see them soon. Anyways, hope you enjoyed lol

DeleteFree topic for this weeks blog. Well there are a lot of topics to chose from. I think I'll go into sports, to be specific, hockey. I love it, it's practically everything to me, well and my family and all that. I play lot of it. I play for a league (Lakeshore), for St-Thomas, and I play ball hockey. Now that's a lot. With everything I'm on about 5 to 6 times a week. I never get sick of it, I can't get enough of it. Almost everyday I have hockey or something related to hockey like dry land or team meeting or something like that. My hockey season isn't doing that well, nor that bad. We are middle of the pack on my Lakeshore team and I am one of the goalies. I am considered the better goalie because I have more wins than losses, but I think that me and the other goalie are pretty equal.
ReplyDeletetoday we read the book hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. i did gym for the first time yesterday after a month. the world should be more peaceful but what can you do. a spear is basically the same thing as a javelin. straws seem to have two holes but also two at the same time. terry fox ran 5373km. most zoos have monkeys

DeleteI will be talking about Christmas break. I think that it will be so fun to have 2 weeks off because I have been working so hard this year so far and it has been so stressful. Like others have said in their blogs, sadly, we have too finish and do all of our mid term exams. Hopefully the exams will not be too difficult.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Cant wait
DeleteThe topic that i will be speaking about is the trip offer that we are so pose to do in the summer of secondary 4. It would be very cool to go to France because i have never been. Not a lot of my friends are going but it would still be fun. It also cost a lot of money so i am not sure that my family will be able to pay for it so i will wait till later in my life to go
ReplyDeleteI didn’t expect this to be so long. (Dec. 1)
ReplyDelete(Nov. 29) I’m feeling quite musical today, and I haven’t got many ideas, so how about I just talk about myself and music, not trying to sound narcissistic or anything like that.
When I was super young I was like every other kid ever, I really wanted to play drums. I guess in our young minds we thought that if we could not hit each other then hitting other things was the next best thing. I used to just watch the drummers at church on Sundays and just imagine myself being able to do that. Then one day, around five years later, I got a lesson from one of the church drummers, and borrowed an electric drum kit from some of our friends. I started to play them and found that I could do some basic stuff that at the time sounded super cool to me. Then my dad went and found a used acoustic drum kit on the internet for $300, and he decided to buy it for me. So I started playing that. Originally I was just playing whatever I felt like playing, and then I started getting lessons, which gave me some songs to play. Then I got invited to play drums in a band at church with all my friends. I was nervous but I took up the offer, and got to learn new songs on my own time. Then I stuck with the band songs and lesson songs for quite a while. I also taught myself one really fast really cool song. Then one day this past September I came home from a weekend away at camp and started writing out a song I wanted to play. I spent a few weeks trying to perfect it, and now it isn’t perfect, but it makes me feel really cool and accomplished to play it with all these fancy beats and whatnot. Now there are some people pushing me very subtly to join one of the main church bands. It really makes me feel good to be able to play something everyone wants or wanted to play and almost nobody can play.
I also play guitar as of this September, when I started guitar class as my elective. I thought it would be really difficult to learn but it quickly became one of my favorite classes. I along with a friend decided to try and learn “Hurt” by Johnny Cash, and we were able to nearly perfect it before moving on. I find that I really really love to play guitar and I find it super fun. I am trying to teach myself “Hey There Delilah” right now but it’s got some really difficult chords. It’s such a beautiful song though and I hope I can perfect it soon.
great blog
DeleteI've noticed that quite a few people have written about how it's almost Christmas, and I don't mean to be annoying or anything, but I think it's kind of ridiculous. It’s hardly December, and already Christmas music has been playing for almost two weeks. The cafeteria is all decorated, and my house has had Christmas lights up for almost a week now. There's still twenty five days; I think everyone needs to slow down a bit, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteSince this is a blog that is free choice. And we can talk about whatever we want to talk about. I have chosen to talk to you about someone my life that is my best friend. This person is my best friend because she is alway there for me and I don’t know what I would do without her. She is also my best friend because I can tell her anything and I know that she will not tell anyone.
ReplyDeleteI’m not quite sure why this happens but the language our generation is ridiculous. It has come to my attention that we (as a grade level) call people autistic or retarded as an insult. I'm not sure you understand what autism is because it's not something to joke about. It's something that a lot of people face and families have to deal with. It frustrates to me to hear people say that someone else has autism as an insult because autism should not be considered an insult. Even if those who are on the spectrum are different from us it doesn't mean they're bad. They have their downs and ups but so do we. Autisme being used offensively will hopefully change in the future.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Mental illness should not be used as a derogatory term.
DeleteHeck, we shouldn't even have derogatory terms.
DeleteEver since I was a little kid, I always had a passion for music. I loved to constantly sing songs, any song that was in the back of my head(even though I never had the best voice). I remember on one of my birthdays a few years ago, my mom bought me a keyboard. I was so happy and excited that right away I set it up in my room and began to play. Even though I wasn't a professional pianist, I continued to play, and I started to make songs. Whenever I was sad I would try to make songs that would uplift me and sometimes songs that would keep me in that same mood(to make more emotional songs). My main focus was the sound. Each pitch sparked a different feeling in me, making me feel safe and warm. But I never stopped at the keyboard.
ReplyDeleteIn elementary school we learned a variety of instruments like the recorder, xylophone, drums, piano and many more. It broadend my mind about music and allowed me to incorporate more instruments in my everyday life(entertainment wise).
I absolutely love listening to music. It makes me happy and it inspires me. I am able to listen to a huge variety of genres and artists, even languages. Music is a universal language. My favorite genre would have to be Indie Pop and Jazz.
So, as soon as I turned 12, I joined the Air Cadets which I still do up to this day. I remember that as soon as I got there, I asked how to join the musical band. I was so eager to become a apart of a group that enjoyed music as much as I did. When I was asked to choose an instrument, I immediated chose the alto saxophone, since I was interested in it for a long time. I learned and learned and became an excellent player thanks to my awesome music instructor. He was french even though it was an english squadron, so I ended learning a lot about music in french.
This year I decided to take music in school since I wanted to continue with my knowledge on music. My teacher wanted me to have a challenge (since pretty much the whole class besides a few are beginners) so she made me play the baritone saxophone. You should search it up, IT'S HUGE! I was able to play it without difficulty, but I instantly fell in love with it. Bari sax is probably my favorite instrument all thanks to my music teacher. Thank you Miss.Miller for making me push my limits.
So to wrap things up, music is a huge part of me as it allows me to learn more about myself, and maybe even others around me.

DeleteI'm going to talk about sports in this free blog (I was seriously thinking about counting from where Gabriel left off but I guess not). My main sport is running, I train twice a week with a club in Vaudreuil. When I'm running I get a good feeling thats hard to describe, but sometimes lets say I'm at a race i feel really badly during the race and question why I even started but then at the end I feel so satisfied with myself and it makes up for the pain. My second sport that I count more of as a hobby is skate boarding. Skate boarding to me is a creative outlet, it has also helps me with perseverance, I started skate boarding last year when the snow melted, before having an actual skateboard I had a penny board. I mostly like to skateboard on mini ramp (look it upon google images) because it flows more compared to "street skating" (skate boarding on rails and ledges). I skate with my friend Noah Tran, we started approximately at the same time, he prefers street skating. Now I'm going to talk about previous sports I've done. My whole life I have figure skated until this year I decided to stop because I wasn't enjoying it anymore and I wanted to focus on running. My second retired sport is rock climbing which I did for about two years, I enjoyed this so much and I don't really know why I stopped, from time to time I'll go bouldering at a rock climbing gym (bouldering : rock climbing without harness). Those are pretty much all the sports I've done, another weird "talent" or thing I do is unicycling and when it snows is snow skating (look it up on google images(first image)) . Ok that wraps up my blog... Bye.
