Blog 4 - Monday, September 18, 2017

THERE WILL ONLY BE ONE (1) BLOG THIS WEEK.

Early in the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Montag is questioned by Clarisse about whether or not "he is happy" (7).  Montag feels as if he is being challenged by this "pure" teenager.

Who do you feel challenges you? On the blog site, write about someone you feel challenges you.  Explain your reasoning.  (It could be a friend, a parent, a coach, a sibling, a teacher, etc)

Plus, take a SELFIE with the person that challenges you.
E-mail the selfie to gkatz@lbpearson.ca

Good Luck :)

  1. I feel that my parents challenge me the most. They know when I can do better and end up challenging me. They always support me no matter what, but they also know when to push me farther. For example, when I don't do so well on a test, they know I'm smarter than what I got. They push me to work harder because they know I can do it.

  2. Someone who challenges me, is definitely my synchro coach. I do 11 hrs a week of competetive synchronised swimming. I've had the same coach for 6 years, in the summer and the winter, and she's always there cheering me on, at everything that I do, in the pool and out, and she's just one of my inspirations. She's always there pushing me to do something new and helping prepare me for competitions, and all. I wouldn't be the person I am now without her.

  3. My mother always challenges me to be a better person whether it's with my brother or with others. She is caring, compassionate and helps out people whenever she can. She makes me want to be that and so much more. She also challenges me to be a better sibling. She grew up with two siblings and they have the best relationship. Last but not least she challenges me to go further and farther than ever. Whether it's fundraising, volunteering or sports. She knows how much more I can do and pushes me to do so.

  4. I think that the person who challenges me the most in my life is my father. My father challenges me a lot because he knows that I can do better. He also challenges my in sport because he know that I can do a better job at that sport if I try hard enough. He challenges because he know that I can be a better person with my siblings and with my friends.

  5. Personally, I found this a very difficult question, because anyone that really has an important part in my life challenges me in one way or another, whether they know it or not. But for this blog, I chose to write about my parents, since they probably challenge me in almost all aspects of my life. My mother always challenges me to try new things, meet new people, and most of all, to do my best in everything I do. My father always pushes me to be the best person I can be, whether it's in athletics, school, or just being a good friend and sister.

    1. Same! My mom is always trying to introduce me to new activities, I think that without her constantly giving me new things to try, my life would become less exciting. Great blog!

  6. The person that challenges me the most is my father. He is always expecting me to achieve very height goals in life. In hockey he is always yelling at me to do better and to try harder so that i can get better and make the teams that i try out for. He also challenges me to study more so that i do better on test. There are a lot of people who challenge me in life but my dad does it the most.

  7. A person who I feel really challenges me is my best friend, Jackie. Anyone who knows us knows that we argue about pretty much everything and odds are you’ve seen us animatedly screaming at each other in the hallways at least once or twice. Jackie is super easy for me to be around and I love spending time with her, but she’s probably the most stubborn person I’ve come to know so far. She’s also one of the only people who can really shut me up when I get worked up. To an outsider, it might seem like we’re a terrible pair, but we always argue in good nature and I really feel like we better one another.

  8. the person that challenges me the most is my best friend, Reece. We argue about everything. There have been multiple occasions where we have been arguing the same point and we didn't realize it until after. Even as little kids I remember we would fight, not be friends then after about ten minute we would make up. we met at a really young age we have been best friends for 12 years I think. Reece and i have the same lock screen and it is him and I in preschool eating ice cream. there have been times where our arguments have lasted days but we will always be friends.

  9. I have many people that challenge me but I try to challenge myself most of the time. I think that challenging yourself is useful because you know your limits and how to push or/and challenge yourself. The different things you can challenge yourself about can vary, it could be related to school or your personal life, For me I challenge myself to do better at school or when I'm doing sports I try to push myself to strive for success which helps me a lot.

  10. One person that challenges me is my sister. The reason that my sister challenges me is because she is very good in school and has always been the best student from my family, and I always get compared to her. For example ‘why don't you get 90% like your sister’. The only way that I see to end this is to try much harder in school to get better marks. A problem is that I don't really enjoy school, but my sister does enjoy school, so it was much easier for her to spend hours studying.

  11. I feel like the person who challenges me the most is definitely my mom. She pushes me very hard to do better in whatever I do, in school, in activities, in everything. She always wants me to try harder, and to try new things. Sometimes I want to and sometimes I don’t, but if she wants it there’s really no way I’m getting out of it :P. But sometimes it finishes well, and I may enjoy something I never thought I would enjoy. My mom is also a teacher, so she really pushes me to get my homework done well. Her standards for my success are even higher than my teachers’. I don’t really like being challenged, but sometimes good things can come out, with possibly new experiences and new things learned.

  12. Somebody who really challenges me is my mom. My mom challenges me because she pushes me to work harder in school and to study more. Whenever I don't do well on a test, she makes me study for the next test until I know everything. She also challenges me because she never lets me miss a sports practice and pushes me to do better in sports. She always makes me try harder and pushes me to my limits and that’s why she is someone who challenges me the most.

  13. nobody really challenges me as much as my mom. she is the one who pushes me do try my best at everything and to work harder in school and to study more. my mom is the one who challenges me because she doesn't tolerate laziness and me slacking off in school and my sports. nobody really challenges me but my mom is always there screaming at me to stop being lazy.:)

  14. My dad is certainly someone that I can say pushes me. My dad focusses especially on my marks in school. He always pushes me to get higher marks no matter what. Being in a family with 3 sisters that always get 90s on every assignment while my marks are much worse is probably what encourages him to challenge me so much but still without him I'm sure I'd be doing way worse. On top of that my dad thinks he's all motivational and cool now so he always tries to tie things like that into my effort in school.

  15. The person who challenges me is my step-dad, Tony. Tony and I both have a liking for math. Whenever I have math homework he is there to help me if I have questions or teach me new math techniques. I find that T only challenges me because he keeps pushing me to try new and more advanced ways to solving equations. Without my step-dad helping me, math would be less fun and exciting.

  16. Someone who challenges me is one of my best friends, Jessica Reis. Sometimes we have arguments. They can be small ones and bigger ones. We haven't had an argument in a very long time though. What's amazing about our friendship is that we always work it out no matter what the case is. We decided to do eachother because we are such close friends and we know that a true friend challenges you. Sometimes we challenge eachother in a positive way. We push eachother to do things we know that the other person is capable of doing, they're just shy, nervous or scared etc. Jessica and I can always tell how the other person is feeling.

  17. This was a very hard question to ask myself. There are many people in life who challenge me but today I chose one of my really close friends, Isadora. I chose her because she challenges me everyday in many different ways. Sometimes we fight over the stupidest things, but in the end we always end up forgiving each other because we could never stay mad at each other. She pushes me to do things that I am not sure about (whether I am nervous or scared about doing it), but she knows that it is the right thing for me to do. Without her, I would be lost. Thanks Dora! xo

  18. The person who challenges me the most would have to be my mother. She always pushes me to do my best and succeed, regardless of the situation. There are times when I tell myself to give up, but my mother is always there to give me her insight, which pushes me forward. This is why I love my mom and appreciate everything she does for me.

  19. Somebody who really challenges me is my dad. He chalenges me to do better in sports and school, and be stronger. My mom also challenges me but I feel that my dad challenges me a lot more at harder and more important things. He'll make bets with me on what I can do, and he will set goals for me to beat. I enjoy when my dad challenges me and makes challenging bets because it encourages me to become better and stronger at the things that I do. I don't always complete some of the challenges he throws against me but I mostly finish and achieve them. Sometimes he'll say something like "Your sister can do better than you " or something to get me all riled up. That way I work harder at the things I have trouble with.

  20. the person that challenges me the most is definitely my mom. she challenges me in a good way so that I push my limits to achieve greatness. she also keeps me in check so that I don't get lazy and sloppy and goof around and do my work. without her I wouldn't be the person that I am today. I'd be a more lazy version of my self that was less active as well.

  21. I am challenged by my friend Skyler. She is always challenging me and making sure I’m doing well. I’m taking music instead of art this year and she knows I like to draw, so she reminds me and pushes me so I can make time and improve. She knows I can always be better and always has my back! Skyler is always there to tell me where I can improve and how, I’m grateful to have her as my friend.

  22. The person in my life who challenges me the most, would definetly have to be my brother. He is three years older than me and incredibly intelligent. He's becoming a mechanical engineer and he is one the select few that was chosen for his program. Without noticing, he challenges me almost every day. Whether it be to work harder, be more spontaneous or who can make my parents laugh more at the dinner table. He makes me want to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I love him so much, and I'm so glad I have him to always lean on.

  23. I am challenged by my parents mostly. I live with my dad but also get an earful from my mom too sometimes but in the end, they just want me to have all the possibilities I possibly can have in life. The just want me to be happy and have a good life. Every once in awhile, they also push my buttons but I know I can do the same at times. In the end, I love both of them because without them, I'd be all over the place with all the things I have going on in my day to day life. #thankgodforparents !
